Access to Paramount Theme Park alone to cost 4 Mln

The Ayuntamiento of Alhama de Murcia has published the Feasibility Study regarding the proposed access to the Paramount Pictures theme park, as part of their General Plan regarding the extent of all proposed works in the Municpality.

The main entrance to the park would be located at Km8.75 of the Alhama-Campo de Cartagena highway, and would require a modification to the flyover and the creation of a larger 118mt diameter roundabout to aid access both to and from the park and the highway.

The study concludes that the park would require a total of 5'571 parking places for visitors, plus 188 for employees, with further requirements for 263 buses or coaches and 195 delivery vehicles.

It is as yet unclear as to how the Ayuntamiento have arrived at these figures.

In addition to traffic to the park itself, the report estimates that a further 4'500 vehicles plus 75 buses and 111 delivery vehicles would also need access to the proposed adjacent Liefstyle Centre each day.

The cost of the modifications to the highway alone is placed at 4 million Euros, and is expected to commence before the end of 20122 if and when it is approved by the Ministry of Transport.

We had that hype here in Sotogrande 7 or 8 years ago. It never happened but the locals managed to sell a lot of land off the back of it though !

There still seem to be a lot of "if's" and "when's" whenever Paramount is mentioned. I sincerely hope that this project does come to fruition, but can't help but have a bad feeling that we haven't even begun to see any of the hiccups and delays that there is likely to be before the park opens.
