Following this afternoon's Cabinet meeting the Government of Spain referred to the Catalan declaration of Sovereignty as being "unconstitutional".
The country's central government also told the press how they planned to challenge the legality of the declaration before the State's Supreme Constitutional Court.
Mariano Rajoy's PP ruled government affirmed how it would not consider moves by any of the Autonomous Regions to break away from the state.
On the 23rd of January the Catalan regional parliament approved a declaration of sovereignty signaling the start of an uncertain journey towards a referendum on the subject of regional independence from Spain.
The resolution - which states that the Catalan people have a democratic right to decide on their sovereignty - was passed with 85 votes for, 41 against and 2 abstentions in the 135-seat regional parliament - 2 deputies were absent and 5 refused to voteon the motion.
