Spain's calendar-adjusted industrial output fell 5.0% year-on-year in January, the 17th month of declines, data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Friday.
The January figure beat Reuters forecasts for a 5.2% decline and compared to a contraction of 7.1% in December, revised down from a preliminary reading of a fall of 6.9%.
Spanish industrial production last registered growth in March 2011, and has contracted or remained flat every month ever since.
