King of Spain Juan Carlos has been forced to give up his royal yacht amidst deep austerity measures, record unemployment and dwindling popularity for the monarchy in Spain.
The yacht, a gift from a business group, has raised eyebrows and caused massive embarrassment for the monarchy as it costs more than €20,000 just to refuel.
The popularity of the royal household has suffered massively of late with allegations of corruption and the King's elephant hunting expedition in 2012 where he broke his hip.
The move may silence many critics of the royal family, however will more likely be seen as just a publicity stunt to raise the profile of the royal household.
Awww... I suppose we all we all have to make sacrifices...
