The streaming TV platform Wuaki.tv has exceeded one million customers in Spain and the UK combined.
The service now has 900,000 users in Spain, while in the UK it has reached over 125,000 subs in just 3 months.
Regarding video-on-demand (VOD), the most viewed genre was film, with Wall-E, Shrek 2 and Toy Story among the most played movies. In addition to the success of family films, series like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and the children's series Peppa Pig were among the most requested content.
Jacinto Roca, Wuaki.tv's CEO, points to multi-device facilities as key for the growth. "Smart TVs, tablets and consoles have played a key role in Spain's market, while in the UK, our hybrid model between rental and subscription has been important in a market with such aggressive competition," he explained.
Smart TVs are the favourite device for Wuaki.tv's customers, with over 70% of all the content requests coming from these devices, although consoles have consolidated their position by showing a 200% growth since last January.
