Nissan has delivered special taxi packaged LEAF and e-NV200 electric vehicles to the first customers in the taxi fleets of Barcelona and Madrid in Spain.
These quiet, zero-emissions vehicles will ply the streets of these two largest cities in Spain as taxi cabs for residents and tourists. Madrid received its first Nissan LEAF taxi at an event in Puerta del Sol on the Zero KM point is located. The ZKM is the beginning point for the measurement of kilometer markers on all Spanish roads.
The first LEAF taxi will be driven by Antonio Berzal Prieto, who chose the LEAF for his business because, he said, it's "highly competitive and the car's performance is excellent." Over in Barcelona, Nissan also delivered the first of its all-electric taxi cabs. This is an important step in an agreement between the company and the City of Barcelona. The e-NV200 is built in Spain and it was only appropriate, they believed, for the first taxi to come out of that factory to be used there as well.
