Spain's internet and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) development agency Red.es, part of the industry ministry, has announced that it will be covering 80% of the cost of 13 smart city initiatives in a total investment of EUR 13.1 million, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The projects will benefit 23 cities in Andalucia, three in Castilla-La Mancha and one in Extremadura. Red.es said all the projects make intensive use of ICT and cover areas such as sustainable mobility and security, open government, energy efficiency and tourism.
