King Juan Carlos to visit USA

King Juan Carlos will meet President Obama at the White House next month in what will be his first official visit to the USA in over five years, an official said Saturday.

"The visit reflects the long standing warm relationship the king has enjoyed with the United States and represents the breadth and depth of the historical ties between the American and Spanish people" said spokesman Michael Hammer.

"President Obama is committed to continuing to strengthen the bilateral ties between our countries" said Hammer, spokesman for Obama's National Security Council.

It will be Juan Carlos' first official visit to the United States since November 2004, when he met with George W. Bush at the then-president's ranch in Texas.
