Shares in Bank of Ireland and Allied Irish Banks fell more than 10 percent on Monday ahead of a series of announcements due on the size of discounts on loans to be transferred to Ireland's "badbank" and the extent of recapitalisation needed.
Allied Irish Bank was down 18.68 percent and Bank of Ireland dropped 11.51 percent by 0625 GMT."There's definitely a whole lot of nervousness out there "one trader said.
Reports in the media have said the extent of discounts and of recapitalisation could far exceed initial estimates, but Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has refused to be drawn on thescale ahead of official announcements this week.
