Both bottled and mains household gas is set to increase in price as from today.
again today.Bottled gas will see a 5.75% increase whilst mains gas sees an increase of 4.1%.
The the 12.5kg gas bottle will now cost upwards from 11.68€, according to information published by the Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Commerce.
The Government states that the maximum price that gas can be sold at (for bottles between 8kg and 20kg) is now 80.589 cents per kg, which equates to 10.07€ for a 12.5kg bottle, plus VAT at 16%, which equals 11.68€.
The prices of gas are reviewed quarterly, taking into account the cost of the raw material, freight charges and also the euro-dollar exchange rate.
The last price rise was 3.36% in January and saw the price of a 12.5kg gas bottle increase to €11.05, and before that a 2% rise in October 2009.
The standard 12.5kg gas bottle hit a record high of 14.1€ in April 2008, but the prices has since fallen in line with falling raw material costs.
Mains gas has gone up by 3.6% for consumers without central heating and by 4.1% for those who do have gas-powered central heating.
