The Andalucian Regional President, José Antonio Griñán, announced yesterday that illegally-built homes in Andalucia will be legalised by decree, but emphasised that the measure did not amount to an amnesty.
He told the Regional Parliament : "In some cases it will be a regularisation that answers to town halls through town plans, and in other cases it will come at the request of individual owners."
The proposal is for all homes to be legalised with the exception of those built in specially protected areas and locations which have a high risk of flooding.
Mark Stuckling from Spanishpropertyinsight.com reports that (according to the Junta), there are 300,000 homes with planning problems in Andalucia, however other parties claim the number to be closer to 400,000.
Griñán claims that it is now practically impossible to build any property that will not have a fully legal status anywhere in Andalucia.
