Potential expats and second home-owners may wish to consider purchasing real estate in Europe, as one expert has said this can be a good investment.
Marc Da-Silva, freelance property journalist and founder of PropertyJournalist.com, claimed there are "lots of opportunities", some of which are "fantastic" and can be a "wonderful investment".
Although there is "mess and chaos" in several markets, such as in Spain, Portugal and Ireland, there are also "some high rental yields achievable", he stated.
Citizens of these countries cannot afford to purchase a home outright and are turning to private landlords as "they certainly still need somewhere to rent", the expert continued.
This is enhancing the demand in the domestic market, he added.
Mr Da-Silva concluded: "I would never ignore Europe."
Spain is also the top retirement hotspot for British people other than the UK itself, a recent poll from Standard Life revealed.
Australia came second, followed by the USA, France and Ireland.
