The Federation of Independent Users-Consumers (FUCI) has stated how passengers affected by the 127 flight cancellations due to the Iberia Pilots strike today have the right to a full refund of their tickets, including all costs and fees.
Today is the first of the days of strike action planned for this month, with others due to take place on the 17th, 20th, 24th and 29th.
The President of FUCI, Gustavo Samayoa, commented that the strike was "foreseeable" and therefore "not unavoidable, an assumption, fortuitous event or force majeure, which Iberia is required to compensate affected passengers for."
He also reminded passngers that "those affected by cancellations or long delays are entitled to assistance in the form of food, drink and accommodation if needed, until they reach their destination or return home."
He conyinued that "if companies do not fulfill their obligations, passengers should write to the airline or to AENA, as a way to acknowledge the non-compliance."
Samayoa urged passengers to keep all receipts for food and beverage and Hotel bills for making such a claim for compensation.
