Osama Bin Laden's son has claimed political asylum in Spain after being refused permission to live in the UK with his British wife. Omar Osama bin Laden is being held at Barajas Airport in Madrid after arriving in Spain on a flight from Egypt bound for Morrocco.
Omar, husband of grandmother-of-five from Yorkshiren Jane Felix-Browne, is reported to be held in the transit hall of the airport's newly-built terminal four. He is expected to remain there while interpol confirms his identity and officials consider whether his asylum claim is valid or not.
Spanish newspaper El Pais said authorities had decided to process his case "speedily".
Omar's asylum claim came 7 months after his British visa application was refused due to suggestions that he could still have links to his terrorist father.
He is said to have flown into Barajas without his British wife, now known as Zaina Aisabah-bin Laden and was planning to travel on to her £550,000 home in the village of Moulton, near Northwich in Cheshire, when he was refused a UK visa.
