Vodafone Spain has announced that its total contribution to the economy of the Spanish region of Extremadura has been EUR 83 million over the past two years.
The operator has directly invested EUR 26.9 million in expanding its mobile and fixed broadband network and improving its customers' experience since the start of 2013.
Fibre to the home (FTTH) services are now available in the towns of Badajoz, Caceres and Merida, with the company due to reach 100,000 households and business units in the region by the end of 2015. In addition, Vodafone has deployed 4G services in the towns of Caceres, Badajoz, Merida, Plasencia, Zafra, Almendralejo and Don Benito, with Montijo, Olivenza, Villafranca de los Barros, Villanueva de la Serena, Coria and Navalmoral de la Mata due to be connected by March 2015.
The accelerated rollout has been partly funded by Vodafone's Project Spring spending programme, which envisages a EUR 650 million investment in the whole of Spain over the next two years.
