A second round of talks between the Spanish Football League (LFP) and the Spanish Footballers Association (AFP) began yesterday, and both sides are due to meet later this afternoon to review proposals and to see if an agreement can be arrived at, by which strikes would not go ahead for a second consecutive weekend.
The AFP carried out their threat of strike action last weekend when the two parties were unable to resolve their differences concerning the non-payment of wages, and the creation of a common fund to guarantee players' salaries.
The LFP commented that they could not afford to pay money into such a fund, let alone the players' wages, as this was money that they simply did not have.
