As of 17.00 hours GMT, a total of 20 earthquakes have been reported by the National Geographic Institute (IGN) studying the seismic and volcanic activity on the Island of El Hierro.
The largest of the earthquakes occurred shortly before 10.00 this morning and measured 3.4 on the richter scale around Frontera, and at a depth of 17 kms.
The Los Roquillos tunnel remains closed due to the possibility of landslides and rock falls, and the residents of la Restinga are still unable to return to their homes due to an increase in volcanic ash and gases being produced by the underwater volcanic eruption, less than 2km off the coast of the Town. This footage take from Youtube shows how the so-called 'Jacuzzi' produced by the reuption has changed over recent hours >>>
