Spanish Airline Iberia has offered to transport most of the passengers left stranded in Spain due to Tuesday’s collapse of Spanish Airline, Comet.
Iberia have agreed to provide four planes to carry an estimated 3,500 passengers to and from Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Lima, Quito, Guayaquil and many other European cities.
..The airline will also transport a further 3,000 passengers between Europe and South America who would otherwise be stranded, in addition to cabin crew who have been left on the other side of the world.
The first of these planned flights will leave from Barajas tonight at 20.00hrs bound for Buenos Aires, with a further two flights planned later on in the evening bound for Lima and Bogota.
..The final, fourth plane is estimated to leave at 10.00hrs on Christmas day, bound for Quito and Guayaquil.
