The Government is currently meeting in order to discuss the "Ley de la Muerte Digna" - the draft law regarding the "Right to die with Dignity", intended to protect the rights of people in the final stages of terminal illnesses.
If approved, as is expected, it ill not legalise assisted suicide, but it put in place a common standard across Spain with regards prolonging the life of a terminal patient, artifically, against their wishes.
The law in question is already commonplace throughout the regions of Andalusia and Aragon, and the government are pushing to standardise it across the country.
