Spain's deputy prime minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria has announced a deal with the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BCS-CNS) to acquire and operate MareNostrum 4, described as one of the world's most advanced supercomputers, for a total of EUR 34 million.
The supercomputer will form part of the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) project to create a pan-European, high-performance computing service for research purposes.
