Holidaymakers and buyers of Holiday homes might want to look towards northern Spain if they are keen to escape big resorts.
According to Carmen Hernandez Gomez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourism Office, there are "new experiences" on offer in areas such as Asturias, Galacia and Leon.
These regions and others may prove particularly popular since they are well-connected with direct flights; something to consider when relocating abroad.
Ms Gomez added that the skiing resort of Formigal in the Pyrenees is somewhere to look into for those interested in winter activities.
Expatriates who are interested in skiing might want to ensure that their overseas health insurance is up-to-date as the cost of treatment for skiing injuries can quickly add up.
The comments coincide with the announcement that two Murcia-based property developers have plans for major new-build residential projects.
Lake Argos promises 500 "ultra-modern" detached properties; while a further 400 units are to be added to the Polaris World golf-focused community.
