A number of travellers on the Spanish domestic flight from Mallorca and bound for Madrid were forcibly removed after being deemed to be troublemakers after complaining at being kept four hours on the ground in a plane with no air conditioning.
The passengers claimed that they were in uncomfortable conditions and kept in the dark as to when the plane be granted permission to take off. The 'troublemakers' reported that no information as to the exact nature of the problem was forthcoming, nor was any refreshment offered.
A few of the Passengers had already suffered a two-hour delay due to flights cancelled as a result of Spain's General Strike on Wednesday.
When any information about the delay was forthcoming a number of passengers demanded to be allowed to leave the flight, which the cabin crew refused.
Eventually the Guardia Civil were asked to board the flight to restore order on and the passengers deemed to be 'troublemakers' were removed.
The Irish airline declined to comment.
