Manufacturing of Motor Vehicle across the EU increased by 15% over the first thre quarters of 2010 compared to the same period last year, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) reported yesterday.
Car production grew 13%, reflecting a drop of 5% in the third quarter in line with the fall in the global economy. Manufacturing of commercial vehicle increased across all three quarters of this year, the ACEA said.
The manufacture of HGV's began to show signs of growth only in the second quarter, when production increased by 57%, and continued to grow in the third quarter, the industry association said.
By the end of the third quarter, a total of 12.6 million motor vehicles had been manufactured within the EU, which represents a growth of 15% over the same period for 2009. When compared to 2008 before the 'crisis' production numbers were down 14%.
