Today's meeting between the Spanish airports authority and the unions has come to an end, but the strike dates proposed are still planned to go ahead.
The AENA Director of AENA did say that advances had been made during the meeting, and re-affirmed that he was committed to finding a resolution that would enable the strike to be called off.
"We are firmly committed to guarantee labour rights in the new management system', he commented, adding that ‘Citizens can be sure that we are making all efforts to guarantee the right to fly".
The Unions did not share the Director's confidence and confirmed that the following strike dates remain in place for the time being :
April : 20th,21st,24th,25th and 30th
May : 2nd,14th,15th,19th and 20th
June : 13th,23rd and 30th
July : 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,15th and 21st
August : 1st, 15th and 31st
The dates have been planned so to cause the maximum disruption over the busy easter and summer holiday periods.
The talks are due to resume later this evening.
P&O Ferries and
Brittany Ferries are already both reporting an increase in bookings being made for their routes to Spain over the easter and summer period due to the uncertainty over the situation with the airport strike dates.
