Spain's vehicle production up 10.56% in Feb.

 

Vehicle production in Spain increased 10.56% in February, when compared with a year earlier, to a total of 246,622 new vehicles manufactured in the country, the Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC) reported on Tuesday.

In the first 2 months of the year, Spain manufactured 462,746 vehicles, equating to a 16.25% rise in comparison with a year earlier, the association said.

According to ANFAC, measures implemented by the Spanish government to boost demand in the automobile sector played a key role in the improvement of vehicle production.

The Plan PIVE, which provides financial aid to those buying a new and more ecologic car in exchange for a 10-year old car or older, helped increase production in February, ANFAC said.

With respect to the production of cars only, this figure rose 19.29% in February year-on-year to a total of 199,444 units, while in the first 2 months of the year 373,917 cars were manufactured, which meant a 24.87% increase when compared with a year earlier.

Exports also rose in the second month of 2015. Spain exported 198,487 vehicles, a 6.25% rise in comparison with a year earlier, while in the first 2 months of the year Spain shipped 383,523 vehicles to other countries, 12.11% more than a year earlier.
