In an interview with Antena 3 Radio Station earlier today, Murcia's President Ramon Luis Valcarcel confirmed that Corvera Airport "Should be open this year".
The Regional Premier went on to explain that this would be dependent upon the Government being able to come to a satisfactory agreement with Sacyr, the principal shareholder of the former concession holder of the airport - Aeromur.
There was no reason that the facility could not be operational within the next 3 months, and certainly before the Summer, he told the interviewer.
Perhaps President Valcarcel was not party to information released last November, whereby the International Air Transport Association (IATA) confirmed that Corvera Airport did not have an allocation of air space until November 2014 at the earliest.
