The Instituto de Estudios Turisticos (National Institute of Tourism) in Madrid has released data of the total expenditure by foreign visitors, as figures stood by the end of April 2013.
For the month of April alone, tourists spent a combined total of €4.031 Billion (5.5% up on the same period 2012), with an average spend per person per visit of €871 (2.2% increase) and an average daily spend per person of €111 (4.4% increase).
In 2013 year to date figures (up until the end of April), tourists spent a total of €13.331 Billion (7.5% up on the same period in 2012), €951 per person per visit (4.8% up), and a daily spend per person of €110 (an increase of 6.3%).
